We’re always on the lookout for new members to join our executive committee. If you’re passionate about community life and have ideas, energy, or experience to share, we’d be thrilled to have you on board. The committee meets regularly to plan events, manage communications, and ensure the association reflects the needs and hopes of our residents.
Here is some background information on the role of the committee
What is the composition of the committee?
The association is managed by an executive committee that is composed of:
- Chair person – their primary role is to lead RDCA meetings, and to represent the association at public gatherings.
- Treasurer – is responsible for managing the associations funds
- Secretary – keeps records of association meetings, and handles all administration tasks.
- Up to 4 other members
The ‘other’ members have no specific duties, other than to attend the meetings.
The committee members are elected for a one year term at the annual general meeting. At the end of the one year term, a committee member can decide to stand again or retire from active participation.
What is the committees purpose?
The committee meets regularly to
- Help organise social events in the village
- Review questions, suggestions and complaints received from local residents, and to determine whether the subject is within the remit of the association.
- Review general issues that might impact the village
- Discuss how best to communicate matters of importance to local residents
As a general principle, the association does not take a formal position of political, environmental, planning or local governance issues. Instead, the committee on behalf of the association will adopt an information dissemination role, advising local residents about the issue and how to find more information about it.
How often do they meet?
The committee member is asked to attend:
- Normal committee meetings are scheduled every two calendar months, and staged at a committee members home.
- Special committee meetings can be arranged to attend to urgent matters that cannot wait until the next scheduled meeting, but such circumstances are rare
- General meetings, open to the public – twice a year, in March and July.
- Annual General meeting, open to the public – once a year in late November.
What is the role of the ‘other’ 4 members?
There are no specific duties assigned to the ‘other’ members on the committee, other than regular attendance at committee and general meetings.
It is hoped that these members will use their voice to contribute towards shaping association activities and lending a new perspective on how best to improve community life in Rhandirmwyn.
