Rewilding in Action Captivates Capacity Audience at the Royal Oak

A fascinating and inspiring evening

On Thursday 16 October 2026, the latest event in the RDCA’s Talking about the Tywi programme attracted a capacity audience, with the Royal Oak dining room packed for an evening with Tir Natur Chair of Trustees, Tash Reilly. The strong attendance reflected the growing interest in rewilding and nature recovery across the area.

Tash delivered an outstanding presentation that combined vision, practical experience and a genuine passion for restoring nature. The talk provided a compelling insight into the first ten months of rewilding work in Cwm Doethïe, bringing to life the connections between people, water, peatlands and biodiversity. Complex environmental issues were explained in a clear and engaging manner, making the subject accessible to everyone, regardless of their prior knowledge.

Particularly impressive was the balance between ambition and realism. The audience gained a clear understanding of Tir Natur’s origins, the progress already being made on the ground, and the charity’s exciting plans for the future. The presentation conveyed a strong sense of optimism about what can be achieved through long-term stewardship, habitat restoration and community engagement.

The talk was very warmly received, and the lively question-and-answer session that followed generated a wide range of thoughtful and interesting questions from the audience. The enthusiasm and curiosity shown during the discussion reflected both the quality of the presentation and the importance of the issues being addressed.

As part of the RDCA’s Talking about the Tywi programme, this was an excellent event that informed, inspired and encouraged reflection on the future of our local landscapes. Tash’s expertise, enthusiasm and willingness to engage with audience questions shone throughout, and those attending left with a much deeper appreciation of both the opportunities and challenges involved in putting rewilding into practice.

An outstanding evening and a highly recommended talk.
